ABOUT ARF SEPA > FINANCIAL INFORMATION
ARF SEPA is proud of the fact that we have very little overhead. We are an all-volunteer organization and utilize a network of foster homes to house pets, therefore we do not have the expenses of running a traditional shelter building. Additionally, ARF SEPA gets as many services and items donated as possible, which keeps administrative expenses even lower.
Almost all of our donations go toward paying for veterinary care for homeless and at-risk pets. Every pet is examined by a veterinarian, receives needed vaccinations, medications and testing, and every pet is spayed or neutered through ARF SEPA. Also, if a pet has an injury or condition that requires surgery or other care, no matter how expensive, ARF SEPA will spend any funding necessary to ensure our foster pets receive the best care to get back into good health to be adopted into a permanent, loving home. This is especially true for our Lucy’s Senior Pet Adoption Program, because older pets are often dumped at public shelters when their previous owners do not want to or cannot pay for procedures to get pets healthy.
Also, ARF SEPA funds programs such as our mobile low-cost spay/neuter van, which travels to lower income areas that do not have access to or the ability to pay for veterinary care. We also fund the Diane L. McNamara Second-Chance Fund, which helps fund emergency medical care for at-risk and abused pets. These additional programs are costly to run, but are well-worth it to achieve our mission.
We are spending more than 95% of our funding directly on veterinary care this year. Another 3% is spent on adoption promotion with less than 2% spent on administrative costs.
ARF SEPA formally began nonprofit business operations on January 31, 2006 and received notification of approval for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in January 2006. Our EIN for tax reporting purposes on file with the Internal Revenue Service is 20-3469938. ARF SEPA was not required to file a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service for 2005. We will be filing a Form 990 for 2006 after the year concludes. ARF SEPA is proud of the way we use our finances, and we invite you to ask any questions or request to see any of our financial documents. We'd be pleased to share our financial information with you. |
