ABOUT ARF SEPA   >  GOALS

SHORT-TERM GOALS
Having been established for two years, the immediate goals of Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. (ARF SEPA) were to:

  • Rescue more than 1000 companion pets from public shelters in our area.  How did we do?
    • From January 2006 to May 2008, ARF rescued more than 1000 homeless pets!
    • We spay/neutered approximately 600 pets in our foster care system.
    • Held a number of free feline spay/neuter clinics.
    • Spay/neutered cats in a feral cat colony thorugh our "Trap-Neuter-Release" pilot program.

To meet this goal, we continually recruit and build a network of foster homes to house pets and provide comfort, socialization and training.

INTERMEDIATE GOALS

  • Hold monthly humane education events at various locations and for various organizations throughout the southeastern Pennsylvania area.  The greater the number of people that are educated regarding proper pet care, proper training and the necessity to spay/neuter pets, the less pets will end up in shelters due to being an unwanted stray or because of an unhappy household.
  • ARF SEPA strives to open a retail adoption facility, on a seasonal or permanent basis, within one year.  This facility will be open for adoptions and will be a place where people can meet adoptable pets, learn about ARF SEPA and even make a donation or become a volunteer.  By opening a retail adoption facility, ARF SEPA can also educate a greater number of people on the rewards of adoption, thus increasing adoptions of rescue pets in our area.

LONG-TERM GOALS

  • ARF SEPA strives to open a no-kill companion animal adoption center in Delaware County, PA, or eastern Chester County, PA, in five years.  This facility will house adoptable pets, serve as an educational center in the community and provide low-cost veterinary care to low-income community residents and rescued pets.
