SPECIAL PROGRAMS > SENIOR PET ADOPTION
ARF SEPA encourages the adoption of senior and older pets through "Lucy's Senior Pet Adoption Program." Lucy is an 11-year-old beagle that was rescued by an ARF SEPA volunteer in 2004. Lucy was about to be euthanized at an area public shelter because she was "old" and "sick," even though she still had lots of love left to give. Lucy had been neglected by her previous owner, and as a result she's blind from cataracts/glaucoma. After getting Lucy needed veterinary care, she's now healthy and walking around her fenced-in yard, going for strolls around the neighborhood, napping on the couch and doing all the great things dogs love to do. Many seniors have years left to give, yet they are often euthanized first in shelters as people adopt puppies and younger pets. ARF SEPA encourages the public to consider senior adoptions and provide a pet with the best years during the golden years. ARF SEPA will provide initial veterinary care and waive the adoption fee for senior pet adoptions. Please contact ARF SEPA at (610)994-4300 or visit our Senior Pet Adoption link on our Petfinder page. You can pre-register for the size and type of pet you're looking for, and when one becomes available we'll give you a call first.
