SPECIAL PROGRAMS   >   MOBILE SPAY/NEUTER

Spay/neuter programs at the best way to reduce the number of unwanted pets born each year. ARF SEPA and The Spayed Club have launched a program that is the first of its kind in the area.

ARF SEPA has identified zip codes throughout southeastern Pennsylvania that have a high number of stray or unaltered pets turned in to area public shelters. Often, these are also lower-income areas where owners cannot afford spay/neuter surgeries, or they do not have transportation to a veterinary clinic. By using our mobile unit, ARF SEPA and The Spayed Club are bringing the veterinary clinic right into these areas that need it most.

At our first clinic in spring 2006, we spay/neutered 52 cats in just one day! Clinic participants were very grateful and appreciative, and many walked for blocks or paid for taxis to get to the clinic site. Since each unaltered cat can produce dozens of offspring each year, our clinic prevented hundreds of unwanted/unplanned births, which in turn prevents those same unplanned pets from ending up at shelter, where most are euthanized.

Each clinic costs more than $4000 to run. You can help by making a donation to ARF SEPA by using PayPal or mailing a donation to Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA, Inc., 1167 West Baltimore Pike, #222, Media, PA 19063. Please call .610.994.4300 for more information on this and all of ARF SEPA's programs.
